This is a very flexible synthesiser, it has a wide range of sources and a surprising range of desinations for those signals for a synth that did not have patches.

In the emulation every operator generates sound into a buffer and each operator had a selectable input buffer pointer. For this synth the input buffer pointer was only affected by the switch selectors. Its bigger brother, the ARP 2600, has almost arbitrary buffer selectors.

Bristol implemented an ARP Axxe, then an ARP Odyssey, and finally the ARP 2600. All synthesisers are a progression on their predecessors.
